Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup corn syrup
1/2 cup water
dash of salt
liquid flavoring
food coloring

Directions:
Combine the sugar, corn syrup, water and salt in a pan. Bring to a boil. Cook until it reaches the hard-crack stage (290° F). Add the food coloringand flavoring. Gently swirl mixture to blend. Pour into an 8 x 8 x 2" metal pan.Let stand a few minutes until a film forms on top. Mark candy in little puffs, eachabout 3/4 inches square. Because the candy is cooler at the edge, startmarking from the outside to the center, using a spatula or pancake turner. Pressa line across 3/4 inches from the edge, being careful not to break throughthe film on the surface. Repeat around all sides of the pan. If the lines do nothold, the candy is not cool enough. Keep going over the lines, without breakingthe film, until you are able to touch the bottom of the pan. Turn out of pan, andbreak with a hammer.
