Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 lb pitted dates, cut up (2 1/2 cups)
1 egg, well beaten
1 Tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts
2 cups crushed Wheaties®or Rice Krispies® (4 cups before crushing)
finely chopped nuts or coconut
Directions:
Mix butter, sugar, and dates. Cook over low heat, stirringconstantly until butter melts. Remove from heat; mix egg,milk, and vanilla; add to date mixture. Cook over very low heat,stirring constantly, about 4 minutes, or until dates are soft andblended in with the other ingredients. Remove from heat andstir in the nuts. Cool 5 minutes, then stir in the the Wheaties orRice Krispies. As soon as mixture is cool enough to handle,form into small balls and roll in the finely chopped nuts orcoconut.
Makes 75 small balls.
