Great Aunt Sylvia's Fruit Salad

Ingredients:
Grapes - both green and red
1 apple
1 can chunky pineapple
1 can tropical fruit salad
1 can mandarin oranges
1 banana
strawberries
1 kiwi

Directions:
Drain the juice from the canned fruits (plus water if needed) to make 1 1/2 cups of liquid. Add one small package of vanilla pudding (the cook kind, NOT instant) and cook over low heat - keep stirring! - until clear and thickened. Pour over fruit while still a little warm. Chill before serving.
