Swedish Brown Bread

Make sure you do not add too much flour when kneading!

Ingredients:
4 Tbsp Crisco
1 Tbsp salt
3/4 cup white sugar
3 1/2 cup hot milk =

1 1/3 cup milk powder
3 1/4 cup hot water

 

 

1 cup rye flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
3/4 cup molasses (B. Rabbit - green label)
2 cakes yeast in
1/2 cup water
7 cups white flour

Directions:
In large bowl that you have the hot milk, add salt, sugar, Crisco,rye and whole wheat flour. Let stand until cool. Add molasses, yeast,and white flour. Knead well. Let double in size. Knead again - leavea little sticky. Divide into 3 loaves and place in bread pans. Raise.
Bake for 10 minutes at 400° F
then for 30 minutes at 350° F.
